The National Institute of Vine and Wine (INVV) is a public interest institution, established December 19, 2012 under decree 9572, and is in close cooperation with the International Organization of Vine and Wine.

The board of directors is formed by representatives of associations and syndicates of vine and wine producers and the Ministries of Agriculture, Economy and Trade, and Industry in Lebanon.

Its duties are to:

1 . Study and propose measures for the development of the vine and wine sectors in Lebanon and improve their quality and specifications.

2 . Study the influence of terroir on the various kinds of vines and how it affects wine.

3 . Supervision of geographical , qualitative and numerical criteria for vines in cooperation with the Directorate of Studies and Coordination in the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agricultural Research Institute and the Institute of Industrial Research .

4 . Identify specific geographic areas of wine production (AOC) and the conditions under which it is produced.

5 . Establish rules for wine classification and certification.

6 . Propose regulations for wine grapes , their products and all matters relating to the production , sale, export and import of wine.

7 . Develop marketing policies for the domestic and overseas markets.

8 . Deliver comprehensive guidelines and support for all the Lebanese wine industry and vine sector.

9 . Create specialized tasting centers.

10. Issue and publish magazines, books and other publications dealing with vine and wine topics.
